This checklist offers the basics on the documentation type and information you'll need when you apply for a mortgage. Depending on your situation, you may be asked for more or less information. We suggest you print this worksheet, then check each box after you've gathered the required data.

Previous address if you've lived at your current address for less than two years

Income
Paychecks (2 most recent pay stub that shows year-to-date earnings)
If you are self employed, your tax return is required
W-2 Tax Forms-original copies sent to you by the Internal Revenue Service for the past two years.
Employer Information (Names, addresses, and telephone numbers of employers for the past two years)
Co-applicant's salary (if self employed, your co-applicant's tax return is required)
Rental income
Dividend income
Interest income
Income from any other source (alimony, child support or separate maintenance income) NOTE: This information will need to be provided only if you wish to have it considered for your mortgage loan request.
Account Information
Account numbers (checking, savings, and any other monetary accounts)
Current balances (checking, savings, and any other monetary accounts)
Current Assets
Individual Retirement Accounts (CDs, stocks, bonds, life insurance etc.)
Personal property (cars, boats, motorcycles, etc.)
Expenses (Liabilities)
Current mortgage monthly payment (provide current market value, mortgage lender name, account number)
If renting--monthly rent payment (provide property address, name and address of the landlord, if you've lived in your current address for less than two years, previous address/landlords)
Co-applicant's current mortgage or rent monthly payment
Credit cards, auto loans, student loans, other installment debts (Provide name and address of each creditor, account numbers, the monthly payment and total amount of debt)
Property
Full address of property you're purchasing or refinancing
Value of property -- if you don't know, use our home valuation tool
Purchase Agreement (A signed copy and any amendments, a copy of the listing form for the property, the legal description of the property, and receipts for or down payment deposits.)
If you're refinancing, balance of first mortgage, name of bank or lender that holds your first mortgage.
